QUICK POLL: TO LAUNCH OR NOT TO LAUNCH?

In your opinion, shoud Nissan build the IDx for mass production? The concept was introduced during the NAIAS. Specific powertrains teased include a 1.2-to-1.5 liter gas engine mated to a CVT (on the FreeFlow) and a 1.6-liter DI, turbocharged four cylinder on the NISMO car. If you’re paying attention, that’s the same mill found in the peppy Nissan Juke. Expect around 197 horsepower. Nissan also talked about a sporty CVT “with 6-speed manual shift mode and synchronized rev control.” But let’s just pray the company’s smart enough to bring a conventional gearbox as well.

REDEFINING “HOT CAR”

A Ferrari 360 Spider burst into flames on the Paseo de la Reforma avenue in Loma, Mexico City and unfortunately was completely destroyed within a few minutes. Yet another Ferrari has been the victim of a fire after a gas tank hose broke on a 2003MY 360 Spider. Firefighters arrived in just a few minutes and managed to put out the fire but even so it was too late for the Ferrari which was consumed by the burning flames. An oil spill was noticed underneath the car so most likely the 360 Spider’s gas tank hose broke. The good news is nobody was inside or in the nearby vicinity of the car so there weren’t any injuries reported or other material damages.

YOLANDA-READY?

RaptorTrax-sm

This F-150 RaptorTRAX is billed as the ultimate snowcat (actually, they call it “the world’s fastest snowcat,” a claim that’s simply begging to be tested) for backcountry first tracks assault. Sure, it’d be great for finding untrammeled powder, but it’d also be good for sullying entire mountainsides with Mattracks marks. Hoonigan was smart enough to have put a roll cage into the thing, as the truck will surely hazard extreme approach angles and avalanches. They’re also smart enough to stick on a Whipple supercharger, because—well, supercharger. They make everything better.
