This red-on-red 1967 Corvette L88, one of the finest in existence, became the most expensive Corvette ever sold in auction after $3.5 million was paid for it. Bidding for the classic red Vette was fast and furious at Barrett Jackson’s Scottsdale auction. It took just two minutes to reach the record price for the stunning C2, besting the $3.2 million spent on a 1967 L8 convertible late last year. One of just twenty sold in 67, this particular example is the only model to have left the factory with a red on red color combination.

WATCH OUT FOR: Koenigsegg One:1

koenigsegg-one-1-china-2-0

The One:1 is being developed as Koenigsegg’s halo car with several examples due to head out to China. It seems only right that the leaked images come from there! Development of the Koenigsegg One:1 is still ongoing and these are old and meanwhile outdated renders. The name Koenigsegg One:1 directly refers to the fact that the Koenigsegg One:1 will produce 1hp per kilogram, meaning that an uprated variant of the twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine found in the regular Koenigsegg Agera R is likely to debut with around 1,400hp.

Yesterday, we reported that the Nissan GT-R was one of the low-selling cars in 2013. Today, here’s an update: Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer has revealed some new details about the company’s future sports car lineup. Palmer said “a new Z will happen” and there will be “a normal version and a Nismo [version].” The model is expected to be smaller than the 370Z and feature a turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The executive went on to say the next-generation GT-R will have a “brutal appearance” and be available with a hybrid powertrain. Palmer declined to elaborate but confirmed the company has already registered the Race Hybrid / R-Hybrid moniker.

RADICAL BUT STREET LEGAL

Radical Sportscars, the company behind some of the most outrageous track-day toys on the planet has just released its newest machine: the Radical RXC Turbo. Thanks to a continuing partnership with Ford and a tuned 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, the RXC Turbo can make the blitz to 60 mph in under three seconds and will reach a top speed of 185 mph. This far surpasses the performance available with last year’s non-turbo RXC that was powered by a Ford 3.7-liter, V-6 engine. A born racer, the Radical RXC Turbo comes with FIA approved crash boxes front and rear, and the outrageous body work can produce almost 2,000 pounds of downforce at top speed.

SCHUMI UPDATE: ALTERED PERSONALITY?

schumacher

Michael Schumacher’s doctors are saying that his condition is stable, and that he is expected to live through this ordeal, but others fear that he probably won’t be the same. “If Schumacher survives, he will not be Schumacher,” says Dr. Richard Greenwood, an acute brain injury specialist from University College London Hospital, “He will be Bloggs,” referring to the British equivalent of John Doe, meaning that his personality could be significantly altered. “His rehabilitation will only be effective if he comes to terms with being Bloggs. That is a very, very hard process to take people through. They need to come to terms with their limitations — the fact they have changed,” Schumacher’s medical team has yet to make a statement, and his manager said “Michael’s family is very happy and confident with the work of the team of doctors treating Michael, and they trust them completely. Michael’s condition is still considered as stable.”
