DREAM CAR FOR SALE: 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail

longtail

The F1 GTR Longtail was one of the racing variants of the F1, and this one is going up for auction by Gooding & Co. in Scottsdale, AZ on January 17th or 18th. Only 10 of these were built for… the ’97 Le Mans season. The weight was reduced, compared to the previous F1 Le Mans car, and a sequential gearbox was added. This particular car’s engine is “slightly destroyed” which means who the hell knows what. It had four podium finished out of five races, and won at the Hockenheimring and at Helsinki.

Famous Parts has introduced their new Mercedes McLaren SLR Roadster. Modestly revised, the SLR has been equipped with a KW adjustable suspension and 20- / 21-inch ADV.1 5.2 MV2 SL wheels with a brushed silver finish. The company also plans on installing a tailor-made titanium exhaust system but there’s no word on whether or not it will result in any performance gains. As a refresher, the SLR features a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine that develops 626 HP (460 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a five-speed transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed of 332 km/h (206 mph).
