ANOTHER SUPERCAR IN THE MAKING

James Glickenhaus of the Ferrari fame is ready to take on a new project, and it will be the first machine created under the SCG emblem. This is James’ own brand, and it stands for Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus. The new car is called simply the SCG 003, and it’s just been teased a bit on Facebook. The early word is that the car will weigh in at just 1,600 pounds and be powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Rumor has it that this should be good for 500 horsepower, which is more than a lot considering how light the vehicle should be. Let’s see if this lives up to the hype.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER…

Technical partnerships between competing brands is becoming a key part of surviving the crazy ups and downs of the automotive realm. However, to date, we’ve had yet to see a splash of a deal between two luxury automakers. That is now history, as Daimler, AMG and Aston Martin have entered an interesting quid pro quo deal. Daimler will receive up to 5-percent, non-voting shares in Aston Martin without cash consideration in return for helping build bespoke V-8 engines that will see use future Aston Martin models. The goal of these new engines is to deliver high performance and improved fuel efficiency. The shares will be awarded in stages that correspond to the progress made in this project, and the shares will allow Daimler to observe Aston Martin operations, but they will not have any direct control over Aston. FROM PHONES TO APPLIANCES… TO CARS?

South Korean industrial behemoth Samsung may be on the verge of trying its hand at cars again after a failed attempt to establish itself as an automaker in the mid-1990s. This time, however, it could be a very different story, as Samsung may be attempting to leverage its recent success in the mobile industry and its partnerships with Google and the Renault-Nissan Alliance in order to push self-driving electric vehicles. Samsung has filed a number of recent patents related to motors, tires, and onboard electronics. Combined with its lithium-ion battery business, Samsung is likely trying its hand at becoming a top tier one-automotive supplier for electrified vehicles or perhaps even a manufacturing partner for Google and Renault-Nissan.

TWO AWESOME WORDS: GT-R NISMO

nismo gtr

Nismo has aways had its way of doing things. Unlike AMG or M-Sports, they have always approached the fine-tuning of Nissan sports cars in a bit of a different way, so rather than producing Nismo versions of production models, they have always stuck to offering afermarket tuning parts and package for cars like the Skyline GT-R and Silvia. Now, the GT-R, the big daddy of the brand, has received the Nismo treatment. From a fancier body kit to harder and lower suspension and sports seats, this upgrade has a lot to offer. We’ll let you salivate for a moment on the photo, and wish for Santa to get this to your doors, quick!

CHICKEN VS CAT

It was only two days ago when Jaguar released an ad in which they mocked Mercedes-Benz’s Magic Body Control commercial and now the German marque has released a rather gentle reply. Mercedes-Benz’s marketing department quickly came up with a response, saying the “cat-like reflexes aren’t fast enough” especially when it comes to safely stopping the car which is why the PRE-SAFE brake system offered by Mercedes-Benz is necessary in extreme situations, otherwise you will likely end up hitting the jaguar as suggested in the photo published on Facebook.
