NO MORE WIPER FOR MCLAREN?

mclaren-p1_100443681_l

McLaren is reported to be developing a system that can repel material from a windshield by creating a force field using high-frequency sound waves. Benefits of the system are said to be improved visibility, since debris would be repelled instantly, as well as improved aerodynamic efficiency, due to less drag. Unfortunately, there’s no word on when we might see the system fitted to one of McLaren’s cars.

LONDON’S FIRST LAFERRARI OWNER

335204

Even in London, where supercars love to be seen, the Ferrari LaFerrari is not a car you’re going to see every day. Each of the 499 scheduled for production have already found a home, and if The Supercar Kids are to be believed the first UK model is heading to football player Samuel Eto’o. The ultimate Prancing Horse would make a fantastic addition to an already astonishing collection that includes an Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari 599 Stallone by Mansory and Aston Martin V12 Zagato. The footballer also has a Koenigsegg on order.

It was raced and driven by Paul Walker as Brian O’Conner and was the car used to pass across the American border into Mexico during the film.

We’re not just wondering why a person would do something like this, we’re wondering why nobody stopped Brown and asked him if this was really such a good idea. You know you have a problem when there’s nobody around who stands between you and your worst ideas.

DIG OR DISS: PORSCHE 911 TARGA

4526072001853582379

It looks pretty much like you would imagine after seeing numerous spy photos in the last couple of years showing the 991 Targa is going to adopt a retro look. The vehicle will have a removable section and will feature a bulky B-pillar along with a fixed glass rear window that has a wraparound configuration, as seen on the classic models. All sources lead to a 2014 launch with two engine choices: a flat-six 3.4-liter with 350 HP (257 kW) and 288 lb-ft (390 Nm) along with a more powerful 3.6-liter with 400 HP (294 kW) and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) in the 911 Targa S variant.
