BEST NEW CARS OF 2013 SERIES: BMW i8

Most of the time, road cars look like somebody took a concept car and said “how can we make this look much, much less cool and inspiring?” It’s sad, but very true. The BMW i8, on the other hand, actually just looked sleeker and more refined than the concept version. A 4.0 second 0-60 in a 2+2 is nothing to scoff at either, especially when the words “94 mpg” are involved.

Lexus has announced plans to introduce an all-new F model at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The company is keeping details a closely guarded secret but confirmed the car was “engineered from scratch, one performance layer at a time.” Lexus also said the “newest F model promises a bold, gritty, experience synonymous with the famed Lexus F heritage.” That’s a little vague, but the model is likely the RC F which is rumored to use a 5.0-liter V8 engine that develops 455 bhp (339 kW) and 401 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque.

AS IF THIS WILL HAPPEN…

Losing your keys sucks — especially if you’ve got a Pagani Huayra — but the car’s Bluetooth Tracker and Alarm ensures you fear no couch cushion or high-piled laundry heap. But misplacing Huayra keys might be a bit of a stretch — if you’re an ower of a car this beautiful you wouldn’t let this out of sight. The Huayra begins with a berlinetta wedge of swoops and tapers and then garnishes it with just the right amount of boutique touch—bespoke leather bonnet straps and fender-mounted carbon mirrors never go out of style. Combine all this with a 720 hp 6.0-liter bi-turbo AMG V12 and you’ve got a hypercar for the ages.

AN UNKNOWN LAMBO?

If the name “Lamborghini Sogna” does not ring a bell, don’t feel bad. Since it was not actually produced by Lamborghini, it is not a well-known model. This model happens to be the handy work of the Japanese company Art & Tech. Based on the Italian word which means “Dream,” this car is anything, but a dream car, based on today’s standards, because of its very strange exterior look. Still, considering the model was inspired by the cars from the 1980s, you have to give it at least a little credit. The Sogna features a body made in aluminum and came equipped with scissor doors. Sogna was unveiled at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show when Art & Tech announced plans to put into limited production with a price tag of $1.6 million per unit.
