COOL, EVEN WITHOUT ADAM!

Ever since its official launch, the Kia Soul has been one of the most active models at SEMA. Last year, Kia rolled into Las Vegas with a Soul lineup inspired by comic-book heroes, but this year, Kia prepared quite an impressive lineup of Souls with four of them drawing inspiration from the music world. This final model is the Soul “The Voice” and it was prepared by NBC as a tribute to the famous TV show. According to its creator, this Soul “represents the sheer talent needed to perform in front of a live audience and millions at home.” This model features a cool bright red exterior paint combined with a “The Voice logo” on the side, vinyl on the window portion and a cool “I Want You” logo illuminated in the lower grille.

SPIED: Nissan’s third-generation Murano SUV

2015-nissan-murano-spy-shots_100448045_l

The new SUV will once again ride on Nissan’s modular D platform, found in vehicles like the Altima and latest Pathfinder, and should be in showrooms late next year, as a 2015 model. This means we can expect the new Murano to make its auto show debut in the first half of next year, most likely at April’s 2014 New York Auto Show. The current Murano is getting up in years, with its design dating back to 2009. Its smaller brother, the Rogue, has just been redesigned, so clearly the time is right for the Murano to receive its own redesign. Thankfully, we’re unlikely to see a second generation of the ungainly Murano CrossCabriolet. As the latest spy shots confirm, styling of the new 2015 Murano has been clearly influenced by Nissan’s Resonance concept from earlier this year. Styled under the direction of Nissan design boss Shiro Nakamura, the Resonance’s design emphasizes an aerodynamic look that’s meant to come across as both lightweight and protective.

Dymaxion car reborn Jaroslav Spacek, of the Czech restoration company Ecorra, stands here with an unfinished replica of Buckminster Fuller’s 1933 Dymaxion car. Designed by the visionary US architect and all-round polymath R Buckminster Fuller, it was a failure commercially, but it tried lots of different things that have had big influence on car design.

QUICK SURVEY: WHAT’S THE MOST UNDERAPPRECIATE ENGINE OF ALL TIME?

ku-xlarge

Some engines are famous. They get all the love, all the glory, all the medals. They have chrome inlet pipes and their own stands at auto shows. And some of them are not. They toil away for many hundreds of thousands of miles, unappreciated, but still pretty great. Which engine do you think is unappreciated? Let us know below in the comments!

SILENT SUPERCAR

pnlzy_sinr1_778287

When it comes to supercars, Ferrari and Lamborghini are usually the center of the discussion, with a few other well-known players like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Pagani thrown in there as well. But they are certainly not the creators of all that’s out there. In fact, more often than not, when some visionary with a wad of cash starts a company, it’s to create some batshit crazy supercar. Like the one featured in the photo: What happens when a bunch of Germans combine a Corvette V8, a Porsche 911 GT2 transmission, and an exotic body? The SIN R1. SIN is well-known for making successful racing cars, but this is the first foray into road cars. Only time will tell if this thing takes off. Do you think it’s worth mass production?
