SPIED: 2015 MINI Cooper Convertible

It doesn’t appear MINI will be pulling any surprises with the car; an automatic folding soft top will remain and the interior will be identical to the one fitted to the regular Cooper, which means MINI’s signature round clusters including the central display. With the new generation, road speed and revs along with other key driving-related information is now shown in an instrument cluster mounted behind the steering wheel. The car will also get a MINI Controller dial located next to the gear stick, which will allow the driver many of the infotainment options.

ARE YOU FEELING IT?

The year 2013 has been a standout year for car movies, with several films debuted this year that are sure-fire future classics. Luckily for movie-going-petrolheads, things are looking good for next year as well with the release of video game turned action flick, Need For Speed next March giving us even more to look forward to. Based on the popular gaming series, the live action feature film pretty closely models the gameplay – complete with unobtainium exotica, high speed pursuits and massive crashes.

ELECTRIFYING RIDE

The all-electric Nissan BladeGlider sports car, which gets its official introduction later this week at the Tokyo Motor Show, is more than just a far-out concept. Nissan plans to build it. Apart from its electric powertrain that makes it radically different than other roadsters and superlight sports cars, it sports a deltoid shape—modeled after the swept wings of a glider—as well as a unique ‘1+3’ seating layout.
