You must be a somebody if you get included in their list…

French supercar maker Bugatti has recently unveiled its new Dynamic Drive Experience, a rarefied test drive for “ultra-high net worth” automotive aficionados in the US and Canada. Participants (who are selected to partake in the program, free of charge, based on their propensity for dropping enormous sums on exotic supercars) enjoy a day behind the wheel of Bugatti’s 1,200-horsepower Veyron roadster, the Grand Sport Vitesse. Chaperoned by Bugatti “test pilots”, drivers sample the car on public roadways as well as closed straights and even an airport runway or two. How’s that for a test drive?

To sweeten the deal, the test drive also comes with five-star accommodations and fine dining, as well as quality time with the “Flying Doctors”, Bugatti’s on-call concierge-mechanics, who will regale the group with tales of the Veyron ownership experience.

The first Dynamic Drive Experience is set for late November in Las Vegas, Nevada. Beyond this, the Volkswagen-owned French automaker has planned a slate of four annual events in the US and Canada – “in cities that are conducive to great driving roads and stretches of highway or runways that allow high-speed driving”. The next is scheduled for early 2014, at an undisclosed location in the southwestern US.

Good news for Mustang aficionados…

…the 2015 Ford Mustang is inching closer to production. Set to debut at the North American International Auto Show, the redesigned pony car will be quite a looker as it will feature a modern design that borrows cues from the Evos concept. Notable highlights include a prominent grille, slender headlights and a flowing roofline. We can also see a distinctive rear end that features an integrated spoiler and unique taillights.

The cabin won’t be as stylish as the exterior but spy photos have shown it will have higher quality materials, revised switchgear and metallic trim. There will also be a three-spoke steering wheel, toggle switches and a MyFord Touch infotainment system. Engine options remain unconfirmed but choices are expected to include a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 bhp (227 kW) and a 5.0-liter V8 that develops 420 bhp (313 kW). There could also be a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that develops anywhere from 275 bhp (205 kW) to 310 bhp (231 kW).

STANCE NATION

Recently, an array of stanced cars – low cars with stretched tires and very tight wheel fitment – were showcased at the Fuji Speedway in Japan. Love it or hate it, this car style/culture is fast gaining popularity here, despite our bad roads and flooding. Dig or diss?

LAUDING LAUDA

A Ferrari owner has enlisted the help of the Italian sports car manufacturer’s Tailor Made personalization program to build this one-off 458 Italia honoring legendary Formula One driver Niki Lauda. The build of the car coincided with the September launch of the new movie Rush, which tells the story of the epic rivalry between Lauda and James Hunt during the 1970s. The Tailor Made 458 Italia honoring him features a classic red paint scheme but with a white roof and the Italian flag going longitudinally across it. The final exterior touch is a set of gold wheels. The colors mimic the livery that featured on Lauda’s Ferrari F1 race car. In those days, Ferrari took three consecutive Constructors’ titles and two Drivers’ titles thanks to the efforts of Lauda.
