FIAT CELEBRATES “57″

Lets face it: “57” is not an usual number to celebrate, but when we are talking about the 57th anniversary of a model launched in 1957, it’s a whole different story. With this in mind, Fiat decided to celebrate 500’s 57th anniversary with the launch of a special 500 “1957 Edition.” After all, we are talking about a hugely successful model that was sold in over 100 countries since its unveiling in 1957. OUT TO GET FERRARI FF?

Mercedes has fallen in love with shooting brakes, so it created a new rendering of an SL Shooting Brake. Looking slightly less awkward than the roadster it’s based on, the Shooting Brake has an attractive rear hatch with a sloping roofline and a distinctive rear tailgate. The model has also been equipped with new side windows which should help to minimize the obvious blind spots. Mercedes hasn’t announced plans for an SL Shooting Brake but the company is preparing to launch a new CLA Shooting Brake in 2015, and a facelifted CLS Shooting Brake to be introduced sometime next year.

BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION?

Elon Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla , has categorically denied any plans to recall the company’s flagship Model S electric sedan. This comes as numerous reports of the Model S’ fires came to light. News of multiple Tesla Model S fires have been reported to date, and an official investigation into the matter is yet to be undertaken. Musk was quick to defend his product, saying Tesla cars are way safer than any other fossil fuel-powered automobile, and that media has blown things out of proportion. Since the first report of the fires, Tesla stocks have plummeted by 22 percent, sparking fears among investors.

Seven-time world champion as spare tyre? Not!

Michael Schumacher has turned down an offer from Lotus to come out of retirement and drive in the final two races of the season to replace the injured Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen’s place will now be filled by fellow Finn Heikki Kovalainen, according to the Press Association. If you remember, Schumacher retired in 2006 after a decade with Ferrari, but made a comeback with Mercedes in 2010. The German retired again at the end of last season, making way for Lewis Hamilton.
