HOW ABOUT SOME MOTORCYCLE UPDATE?

No one will ever be the “King of Cool” other than Steve McQueen, but you can have a sliver of his awesomeness by owning his Harley-Davidson – up for bids at the Mecum Auctions event in California. McQueen’s 1938 Harley WLD Solo Sport still wears its original factory paint, and its odometer shows 21,000 miles. It also comes with a few of McQueen’s own tools, which were found in a frame-mounted tool box when the bike was first sold. The last major McQueen motoring artifact to cross the auction block was a 1951 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe Convertible, which sold for $88,000 and 1971 Porsche 911S which racked up a cool $1.375 million.

GOODBYE SLS, HELLO SLC?

Mercedes-Benz is set to retire its flagship sports car — the SLS — next year. That’s correct, the AMG-tuned Mercedes SLS will go out of production in July 2014, but the car that will take its place has been seen testing quite a few times and we know it as the Mercedes SLC. Some sources, however, suggest that the new car could be called the Mercedes GT instead. The new car will be assembled at Mercedes-Benz AMG at Afalterbach, Germany and will share the production line as its predecessor. According to Autocar, the Mercedes-Benz GT AMG is to be unveiled at the German Grand Prix next year and will go on sale in 2015.

A HOMAGE TO PORSCHE 550 SPYDER?

Rumor has it that Porsche is prepping a 911 to serve as an homage to that very machine, and it could arrive in 2015. The German automaker is said to be looking to produce a Speedster version of the current 991-series 911. This means it will be a true open-top motoring machine, with the possibility of an emergency-only roof covering. The rumor states that Porsche will build just 550 examples for the 2015 model year. This means Porsche may unveil the car by as early as January 2014.

MASSA’S BACK!

Months after announcing that he’s leaving the Ferrari team, Brazilian Felipe Massa has recently found another F1 team, signing with Williams. Williams representatives says this might just serve as their comeback, after dominating F1 for much of the 1980s and ’90s but have scoring only one point this year.
