Barrett-Jackson bills itself as ‘The world’s greatest collector car auction’ and when it comes to sales volume, attendance, sheer number of events, values of cars, it is indeed the top auction. It had everything, from the 2015 Ford Mustang mentioned in an earlier post, to F1 cars and even this: a batmobile. For sheer fun, it was even displayed complete with a driver dressed in a Batman costume and his sidekick Robin.

No other infotainment software makes quite the splash as Apple’s iOS in the Car. Several screen shots of Apple’s iOS in the Car were posted on developer Steven Troughton-Smith’s twitter page, giving us an idea of what the current beta model looks like. As reported by 9To5Mac, iOS in the Car allows users to plug their iOS device into their car’s built-in center console display, giving them access to Apple Maps, text messaging, phone service and iTunes – furthering Apple’s in-dash integration past the current Siri Eyes Free and iPod Out.

MODERN FANTASY, OLD SCHOOL DRIVING

As far as modern rarity goes, the Volkswagen XL1 is on the same level as the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari LaFerrari. In fact, it’s actually even more rare than those two, as only 250 XL1s will be produced, while 499 LaFerraris will be prancing about and 375 P1s will be scouring tracks across the world. the XL1 is what Volkswagen claims to be the “world’s most fuel-efficient production car.” It’s a plug-in hybrid that can get up to 261 mpg, based on European fuel cycle measurements (0.9 liters used per 100 km, with battery recharged every 100 km). It houses a two-cylinder 0.8L TDI Clean Diesel engine that makes 48 horsepower and is paired with a 27hp electric motor. All of that said, it can technically get 31 miles in pure electric mode and 310 miles on a single fill up of its 2.6-gallon tank.

According to a McLaren insider the P1 lapped the Ring in around 6 min 30 sec. If true, that makes it the undisputed King of the Ring for now. Take note: over Ferrari.
