The rights to the very first 2015 Ford Mustang GT was sold to the highest bidder at the Barrett-Jackson auctions taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend. The final bid, made by Sam Pack, a car collector and Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] dealer from Texas, was a respectable $300,000, the proceeds of which will go to benefit diabetes support group JDRF. The 2015 Mustang will initially be offered in three flavors: base V-6, mid-level turbo four and range-topping V-8, with the latter being the Mustang GT you see here. Peak output from its 5.0-liter V-8 will hover somewhere around 420 horsepower and 396 pound-feet of torque.

Wrestling star Dwayne Johnson posted this photo to Facebook recently of himself admiring a Ferrari 458 and shared his struggle with the world, writing in the caption “570 horse power of brilliant Italian engineering + 260lbs of Samoan Black Silverback = another fine ride I don’t fit in. #Ferrari458. Why I’m a pick up truck man.” There should be big-n-tall designers out there making man-sized stuff for the Dwayne Johnsons of the world. This is exactly why we don’t lift anymore.

In your opinion, shoud Nissan build the IDx for mass production? The concept was introduced during the NAIAS. Specific powertrains teased include a 1.2-to-1.5 liter gas engine mated to a CVT (on the FreeFlow) and a 1.6-liter DI, turbocharged four cylinder on the NISMO car. If you’re paying attention, that’s the same mill found in the peppy Nissan Juke. Expect around 197 horsepower. Nissan also talked about a sporty CVT “with 6-speed manual shift mode and synchronized rev control.” But let’s just pray the company’s smart enough to bring a conventional gearbox as well.
