ICE AGE
It has been a rough week or two in the U.S., thanks to temperatures that have made your freezer look like a warm and cozy cabin. And although the snow and negative temperatures have kept most people inside of their houses, tucked away on their couches, there is one possession that hundreds of thousands couldn’t protect from the harsh winter: their cars. Their rides were out there in the icy battlefield of doom, waiting for a frigid freeze. Take a look at what has happened to this truck when they’re left to get frostbite. Literally cool.

Detroit 2014: Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept
Infiniti, the Red Bull Racing sponsors have blurred the lines between racing and luxury and have revealed at the Detroit Motor Show 2014 a spectacular concept named the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept after what is arguably the most famous corner in Formula 1, Eau Rouge at Spa. At the front the face of the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept has a very aggressive look with massive intakes and a carbon fiber splitter as well as the carbon fiber roof, side sills and door mirrors. The rear of the car now looks butch and wide, Infiniti promises a carbon fiber rear splitter, dual exhaust and a large integrated rear spoiler. The car has been finished in ‘Rouge’, hence the name, and has been contrasted beautifully by the aforementioned carbon parts and the beautifully intricate lightweight 21-inch wheels finished in black that hide massive red Brembo brakes.

DIFFERENT KIND OF PORSCHE
Back in 1984, Porsche looked to be a key part of Group B racing in an effort to develop and explore technology for it’s road-going cars. After a weak start and two years of lackluster performance though, the Rally 959 in 1986 went on to achieve a 1-2 finish at the Paris-Dakar. However with the cost involved with motorsports, the viability of the project, along with the knowledge gained in racing decreasing, the Rally 959’s days of driving over rough dusty terrain came to an end. Today, almost 30 years later though, with all the speculations about Porsche’s return to rallying with a possible rally version of the 911 to be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show. it seems we could soon see some new Porsche’s swapping asphalt with rough terrain.

BEETLE BUG
Dune buggies meant freedom and rebellion all at the same time. Based around the evergreen Volkswagen Beetle, builders stripped away the bodies, added some fiberglass and big tires, and created an instant California-style classic. Now Volkswagen is going back to the well, promising more freedom, but a lot less rebellion with its Volkswagen Beetle Dune. Pitched as an off-road version of the Golf-based Beetle, the Beetle Dune concept car is a near-production design that will give the two-model Beetle range a crossover niche-filler. Based off the Golf Alltrack soft roader, Volkswagen is hinting that the Beetle Dune could be in production as early as this summer.
