CAR MEETS FASHION

IMG_1892-sm

With Mercedes-Benz owning the Fasion Week, Infiniti has also entered the world of fashion as it partnered with designers Zac Posen and Thom Browne. On the surface, the partnership between Infiniti and these two designers may seem like just another in the overstayed trend of celebrity creative directors. One of those hallmark elements is a completely chrome exterior finish, including the wheels. In an industry where chrome finish usually equates to gaudy and overdone, Browne’s Q50 is surprisingly attractive in person. The chrome finish reads a bit darker and smokier than most of the in-your-face executions out there, and it’s an appealing contrast to the understated, masculine interior featuring Browne’s signature red, white, and blue striping and stitching.

The German carmaker’s CEO Rupert Stadler has confirmed plans to introduce 11 all-new models, though he did not go into specifics. Audi has already announced plans to launch a Q1 in 2016. It could be joined by a variety of other crossovers including a Q2, Q4, Q6 and Q8. Stadler’s comment about the “prestigious full-size category” also raises the possibility of the long-rumored A9 which could be a coupe or an Allroad sedan.

FERRARI UPGRADE?

ferrari-458-spider-b_800x0w

We’ll have to be completely honest with you, we are not too fond of the concept of upgrading Ferrari models in any way. They are masterpieces right from the factory, and by trying to change that, you run the risk of completely ruin that Ferrari look. In the case of this Ferrari upgrade by Capristo, however, we feel the tuner did a pretty good job at revising the 458 Spider without changing a lot of the car’s elements. From the looks of things, all of the changes it made fit in well with the character of the 458, while making it look a little bit more aggressive. Capristo wanted to give the 458 a look to match its 562-horsepower, V-8 engine, so it replaced the original engine cover, which doesn’t give you a good look at the mighty engine, and replaced it with one that features glass viewing pane and extra vents to more effectively draw the heat away from the engine compartment.

HAND-PAINTED LAMBO

Lambo lovers around the world will love what artist Alexander Mijares did to this precious Lamborghini Gallardo. For Art Basel Miami Beach a short while ago, Mijares grabbed some paint and covered the blue whip in his signature floral pattern while Nue Vue Photography recorded the process. Purists can relax though, the car was wrapped prior to painting by Superior Auto Design in Pompano Beach, Florida, so really Mijares was painting vinyl and the metal underneath was safe.
